This page tells you the settings you need to access your email from your favourite email program on your computer.

We also have step by step guides for setting up your email account in the following programmes:

If you are away from your main computer, you can access your emails from any computer connected to the internet, through any web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox etc) using our Web Mail system.

You can set up your email account in any other email programme too, as well as on your smart phone or tablet. Please use the setting below and follow the instructions which come with the programme. if you have any problems or can't find the settings we describe below please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will help you out.

These are the settings you will be asked for:

Email Username: This is your Full Email Address.

Email Password: This will have been provided by us when we set up your email address. If you've lost it, ask This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll send you a new one!

Incoming email server (POP3 / IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com

Outgoing email server (SMTP): smtp.yourdomain.com (port 25 or 587*)

Replace 'yourdomain.com' with your actual website address, excluding the www.

* although port 25 is the default set for you by most email programmes, some broadband ISPs block port 25. If you have any problems sending email, try changing your outgoing smtp to port 587)

Email Security Settings Note

Make sure you are using TLS/SSL (or STARTLS) to connect to your email server. This can be done by selecting one or the other from the "Connection Security" option in your email account settings, or in some programmes you just need to tick the "Use SSL" tickbox.

You may receive a warning about an 'untrusted security certificate'. Please accept the certificate permanently, the warning is displayed as the certificates domain name is our root server domain 'ayeaye.vs.athnic.net' and doesn't match your domain name, but is secure!

Password Type

Make sure the "password type" or "authentication" option is set to "Password" or "Normal Password". Because we use SSL (see above) no password encryption is required.

Stuck?

Please access the Email Account Settings in your email programme, and check that you have the correct settings as described above. If you are having problems connecting through your email programme please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with:

  • A description of the problem you are having
  • Any errors your are receiving
  • Which email programme you are using (eg. Outlook, Thunderbird etc..)

In the meantime, you can still access your emails through webmail via your internet browser, so you can still send and receive emails whilst we help you set up your computer email software.
